Basic Information on Galvanized Steel Coil
Views: 575 Update Date: Feb 19 , 2016
Galvanized sheet or coil is a carbon steel sheet which is coated with zinc on both sides. There are two processes used to produce galvanized sheet and coil- continuous hot dipping, or electro-galvanizing. Generally, in the hot dip process the steel is passed through a bath of molten zinc. The electro-galvanizing process includes zinc application by electrolytic disposition.
Zinc coating is essential since it is the most effective and economical method of protecting steel from getting corrosion. The zinc not only safeguards the steel from the environment, but it will also protect the underlying steel sheet. Galvanic protection actually occurs when two different metals come in contact with water and air (oxygen). This protection works wonder in preventing corrosion of the steel at areas that are not covered with zinc. Thus, corrosion can be controlled from sources like cut edges, drill holes, etc.
The applications for Galvanized steel coil products may be found in exterior building products, ductwork, electrical boxes, roofing, doors, etc. Moreover, the hot dipped galvanized as well as the galvanized products are available in a wide variety of coating weights. You can make a wise choice for your needs.
To find galvanized steel coil supplier you can search online. There are many of them who offer this product at the best price. When you find the right supplier, just do let them know the uses of your product and they can help you come up with the material that is right for you!
